Sangamon County Animal Control is always collecting donations! Drop off your donation at either Sean or Bryan’s locations: 1128 S. 5th Street or 2413 Denver Drive in Springfield.

  • Nail clippers (human type, many cats prefer those)

Wet Nose Wednesday: Jagger

Jagger is a 2-year old tabby cat. He’s on the smaller side and is calm, friendly and loves to snuggle.


Wet Nose Wednesday: Jackson

Jackson is a 2-year old pup who recently completed the Rediscover Your Dog training program. He has learned many life skills and is now ready to find his furever home!


Wet Nose Wednesday: Toby


Toby is a 1-year old Shiba Inu mix. He is very protective of his people and needs to be the only dog in the house. He’s about 30lbs. and loves to take walks.


Wet Nose Wednesday: Lil Man

Lil Man is a young, black and tan coonhound. He is a unique guy– a little vocal at times, does NOT like to hunt, but loves people. He would do best in the country where he won’t have a lot of neighbors. He just needs a family who understands him!

Wet Nose Wednesday: Foster

Foster is a handsome, active, and energetic mixed-breed boy who is looking for the perfect forever home!  Foster is house-trained, crate-trained, a polite passenger in the car, and walks well on a leash. He is very smart and loves learning new things; he is super sweet and a master cuddler!  His favorite activities include snuggling, walking and jogging, training games, and getting pets, love, and booty scratches from his human friends.

Foster does well with other dogs in a social environment (going for walks or jogs in the park is his favorite!), but prefers to live in a home where he can be the only pet and soak up all the love and attention.  He would do well in a home with adults, or a family that has older children.

Wet Nose Wednesday: Wagner


Wagner is a one-year old terrier mix. He came to Animal Control from a bad situation. Despite his rough start, he’s a fun, happy boy who loves people and going for walks. Let’s find this handsome guy a home!


Wet Nose Wednesday: Journey


Journey is a 1-year old american bulldog mix. She’s currently the shelter’s longest resident. Journey is the perfect size– around 35 pounds and loves to snuggle up for affection. The stress of being in a kennel is starting to wear on her. Let’s find Journey a home!


Wet Nose Wednesday: Bonnie



Bonnie is a second-timer on Wet Nose Wednesday. She’s an 18-month old female. She loves attention and affection and gets along with other cats. She’s playful, talkative and outgoing.


Wet Nose Wednesday: Nona


Nona is an 8-year old terrier mix. She has a little gray in her muzzle, but this sweet and friendly girl loves to play fetch and take long walks. She walks nice and calmly on a leash. After getting her exercise, Nona is ready to snuggle with her person.


Wet Nose Wednesday: Bronze


Bronze is 10-11 month old terrier mix. He was an owner surrender. Bronze is a big guy, but is just as sweet as can be, and just wants to be loved and find a home to call his own.


Wet Nose Wednesday: Bonnie


Bonnie is an 18-month old female. She loves attention and affection and gets along with other cats. She’s playful, talkative and outgoing.


Wet Nose Wednesday: Kiga


Kiga is a 3-year old cattle dog mix. She is very social, loves to take walks and does well on a leash. She’s been with the shelter for a few weeks and needs a home to call her own for the holidays.


Wet Nose Wednesday: Naiobi

Naiobi is a 4-year old with a lot of love to give. She’s currently the shelter’s most long-term resident and cannot wait to find her fur-ever home. While she may have a bit of gray hair, she is just a pup! She loves people, charms everyone she meets and can even do a high-five!


Wet Nose Wednesday: Max


Max is a 7-year old American Staffordshire Terrier and one of the senior citizens looking for a home for the holidays. He came to SCAC as an owner surrender. Max loves car rides and snuggling with his people. He’s a big, strong boy but he settles down and just wants to be loved. You can’t help but smile when you see his happy face.


Wet Nose Wednesday: Maggie


Maggie is a beautiful, sweet natured 3 year old domestic short haired cat. She’s been at SCAC since June when she was surrendered by her owner. Maggie gets along with other cats in the community room but she really prefers to sit and quietly watch the world go by.

Wet Nose Wednesday: Kobe

Kobe is an 8-year old beagle mix and he’s been at SCAC for about a month.  He’s approximately 25-30 lbs., loves a good walk and a good snuggle. He has tons of love to give!

Wet Nose Wednesday: Lucky


Lucky is a 9 year old whose family relinquished him to SCAC. He’s affectionate and snuggly and knows sit, shake and lay down. He loves to play fetch, too!

Wet Nose Wednesday: Thirsty


Thirsty is a 3-year old pit mix who has been at Animal Control since the end of August. Thirsty loves people, is a happy, sweet guy who has a ton of energy. He needs a home where he’ll have structure, attention and exercise to burn off his high energy.

Lady is a 7-month old bully mix and the sweetest wiggle butt you’ve ever met. Lady had a rough start in life and Friends of SCAC are committed to helping her find the loving home she deserves.


Wet Nose Wednesday: Romeo


Romeo is a 3-year old boy who was surrendered to Animal Control. He loves attention and affection and gets along with the other cats in the community room. Romeo isn’t overly playful. He prefers a scratch behind the ears instead. He is active and loving, as well as curious and outgoing.

Wet Nose Wednesday: Nico


Nico is an 8-month old chocolate labrador mix. He could chase a ball all day but he also likes to snuggle with his person. Nico is a medium size dog who will probably weigh around 60 lbs. when fully grown. He’s good on a leash and would be great for taking a run in the park in the falling leaves.

Wet Nose Wednesday: Raven

Raven is a 3-year old boxer mix who got off to a rough start. She has been with SCAC since the beginning of September and when she arrived she had a serious blockage in her intestines. Fortunately, Friends of Sangamon County Animal Control was able to get her the emergency surgery she needed to save her life and provide a foster home thru her recovery. Now Raven is happy and healthy and ready to start her new life in a loving home.


Raven is a medium size dog who walks nicely on the leash. She loves to snuggle up with people and just hang out. She the perfect dog to be a companion for walks in the park and enjoying the Fall.


Wet Nose Wednesday: Callie


Callie is a 3-year old Treeing Walker Coonhound. Like all hounds she is active and keeps busy using her nose. Hounds can be stubborn, but they’re also affectionate and happy. Callie will be happiest in a home with a loving family and a big fenced backyard so she can stay busy treeing squirrels.

Nova is a brown & orange tabby cat. She is very outgoing, active and playful. She loves attention & affection and is not shy about seeking it out. She gets along very well with other kittens and youngsters. She has a ready purr and would love to meet you!

Cooper is a sweet labrador/sharpei mix who is believed to be 6 years old.

Suki is one of many kittens at SCAC looking for a permanent home. She is beautiful and affectionate and loves attention. She would do well in a home with other cats. Suki is ready to go today!

Ariel is a 6-year old lab/shepherd mix. She is very laid back and loves people. The white fur on her face is her coloring, not from age!
